Mobil 1 Delvac

I have found this site a couple of years ago and always seems to come back to it when I have questions on motor oil. A while back the question was raised is is Synthetic or SIN-thetic. Well many questions about that were right on the LN Engineering page as well as many formulations and concerns. Some aspects were from a Porsche (VW) perspective, but you will find more information here about various types of oil then most other places on the web.

BTW if not clear from the picture I’m a fan of Mobil 1 diesel oil. Sadly I think they have the same fate as many other oils with a reduction of Zinc Phosphates and other nice for your engine chemicals, but bad for your catalytic converter story. I had a stash of the older Delvac that I have run in the Race car as well as the Diesel Truck. All gone now. I have been using Royal Purple Racing 41 in “The Ripper” and it seems to be fine. For the other non-roller cam cars I have been using Delvac 1300. For the Excursion Diesel I have used Delvac 1, and Delvac 1300, and finally Rotella T synthetic mainly based on availability. Autozone has 3 1 gallon’s jugs of each of the brands of diesel oil, but sadly you need more then 12 quarts.

One oil that I’m interested in trying is the Air cooled motorcycle oils as they have high additive content since they have no catalytic converters (yet). Or just stick with regular racing oil that “Not intended for use on public highways” warning…
