Well it finally happened, Diesel for $4 a Gallon

Submitted by on March 14, 2008 – 1:02 am7 Comments

It finally happened, I paid over $4 a gallon for Diesel fuel. All the gas prices moved up a bit, but it seems that the Diesel grade took a big hit. I have never been sure why Diesel is more expensive then gasoline since it seems like it undergoes much less refinement then gasoline. What to do? Nothing. Swipe the credit card 4 times now to fill the 44 gallon tank. At least I don’t have to fill up that often and see the prices, but it does get old having to reach the $75 pre-auth limit on the credit car and only get about 19 gallons…

Well, the tank was almost bone dry and I hit a station with the $75 limit, so it was 3 times to the pump for re-authorizing the charge card. Should I just be happy I can afford to fill up the tank? I think so, but it still sucks. I am smart enough to know that it isn’t going to get any better, and so should you…

Seems I may have been overly optimistic, it almost should read Diesel for $5 a Gallon…

Well, while ‘Walking’ to get some food the other day I passed the most expensive station that I know of, and they only Diesel in FULL SERV. I stopped and looked at the sign and then kept looking just so I was sure that I got the price correct in my head. The FULL SERV price for Diesel was $5.96! Ouch. I really wonder what I can get them to do if I have them fill up the Excursion? Let’s ponder that, at 44 gallons that would end up being about 260 bucks, hmm would they check my oil and wash the windows? Could I get an engine rebuild? I would hope at least an free antenna ball! The sad part is that I’m not optimistic in that the $5+ a gallon price won’t be common place at self serv in the short time future. I had better start reading up on Free energy machines and the magic of hydrogen generation… Oh, wait, maybe a small Hybrid would be in my future…

Well within just a few weeks the price has slowly notched up. My cheep Diesel station is not $5.05 a gallon. So the price of Diesel has gone up about a dollar a gallon since March. I’ll have to check the most expensive station in Los Angeles (for Diesel) to see if they are at $9.99 gallon yet. I wonder if Ron Paul can help, you know put a little ‘evol’ (Love Backwards in case you didn’t get the funny) back when he becomes president. I had better start looking at them Google Ads to see how I can make my truck run on water! Oh well that is the way it goes, and as I said before, I don’t ever expect it to go down…

  • Sandy says:

Wait, diesel now under 3 bucks? WTF?

  • Sandy says:

Just filled up at $2.41 nice! But wait would be nice at $1.89 then I wouldn’t feel like I was ripped off over the last couple of years.

  • Sandy says:

And still dropping filled up at $2.25. I would love to have it under 2 bucks a gallon for a long while. Most other Gasoline down under 2 bucks… Well except for Racing Gas!
